Easy Mother’s Day Tote Bag Project (Thanks to Mont Marte!)
Looking for a sweet; handmade gift for Mum this Mother’s Day? We've got just the thing; a custom tote bag that’s heartfelt; easy; and a whole lot of fun to make. This project uses the Mont Marte Fabric Marker Art Set; and we’re following along with their brilliant tutorial (thanks Mont Marte!).
What you’ll need:
The Fabric Art Set comes with everything you need:
- A blank canvas tote bag
- Fabric markers and paint sticks
- T-shirt markers
- 3D puffy paint pens

Let’s get started!
- Prep your workspace: Unfold your tote and place a book or cardboard inside to keep the fabric flat and stop the markers from bleeding through.
- Sketch your design: Use the HB pencil to lightly draw your design. We chose “I love my mum” for a classic; heartfelt look.
- Add colour: Use the fabric markers to colour in your design. Mix it up with different colours to keep things fun and vibrant.
- Get creative with 3D paint: Add extra flair with puffy paint pens; a heart; stars; or whatever you like!
- Dry and set your design: Let it dry completely. Iron under a sheet of paper for 3–4 minutes to fix the fabric marker design. For puffy paint; use a hairdryer and let it cure for at least 12 hours.
Care Instructions
- Turn inside out when washing
- Cold wash for fabric marker designs
- Hand wash puffy paint designs in warm water with mild detergent
- Do not iron over puffy paint
