Coloured card & glue stick or double-sided tape
To mount your bookmark for extra polish
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Sketch Your Design
Lightly sketch your design on the watercolour paper. Think florals, abstract shapes, or something symbolic for Mum.
2. Add Watercolour
Using your mop brush, fill in your design with vibrant watercolours. Have fun with washes, gradients, or even splatters.
3. Cut Out Your Bookmark
Once dry, cut your design into a long rectangular shape, bookmark sized.
4. Mount on Cardstock
Cut a slightly larger rectangle from coloured card. Mount your watercolour bookmark on top using a glue stick or double-sided tape.
5. Add a Ribbon (Optional)
Punch a hole at the top of your bookmark and tie a ribbon through. This step adds a beautiful finishing touch.
6. Personalise with a Note
Use your fineliner to write a little message on the back, something Mum can read each time she opens her book.
These handmade bookmarks are a heartfelt token of appreciation and a creative activity rolled into one. Whether you’re painting with kids or creating something special yourself, it’s a beautiful way to say “I love you” this Mother’s Day.
