How to Customise a Helmet with POSCA
Share
Want to stand out on your bike or board? Customising your helmet is a fun and creative way to show off your personal style – and it’s easier than you think! With just a few tools and a trusty POSCA marker, you can turn any plain helmet into a wearable work of art.
What You’ll Need:
- Bike or roller helmet
- POSCA PC-3M Paint Marker
- Tracing paper
- Uni-Ball mechanical pencil
- Solvent-free spray varnish (matte, gloss or satin)
Step 1: Choose & Transfer Your Design
Sketch your design on tracing paper with a mechanical pencil. Flip the paper and trace the reverse side onto your helmet to transfer the design outline.

Step 2: Shake & Paint
Shake your POSCA marker well with the cap on. Press the tip a few times on scrap paper until the paint starts to flow evenly. Use the PC-3M to paint over your design. Let it dry completely and add a second coat if needed.
Step 3: Seal the Deal
Once your artwork is dry, apply 2–3 light coats of spray varnish to protect it. Use a solvent-free varnish and follow the instructions on the can carefully.
