About the tutor

Meet Jeanne Cotter, an award-winning soft pastel artist and tutor who brings pure magic to her home studio in Toowoomba, Queensland.

What drives Jeanne's passion for teaching? The pure joy of watching students step back from their easels in amazement at the beauty they've created. She specialises in guiding adults through the wonderful world of soft pastels, helping them discover their inner artist whilst building lasting friendships and community connections.

Jeanne's love affair with soft pastels stems from their incredible immediacy; the rich colours, delicious textures, and the fact that there's no waiting for anything to dry. With just a few sticks of pure pigment and your fingers, the creative possibilities are endless.

Beyond her teaching, Jeanne's own artwork can be viewed at her fine art website, jeannecotter.com.au. She's also a passionate advocate for the local arts community, co-founding the Toowoomba Studio Art Trail in 2023. This exciting annual initiative runs every weekend throughout September, where a carefully selected group of local artists open their home studios to the public.

Whether you're hoping to paint your first cloud or perfect that tricky pear, Jeanne creates a nurturing space where creativity flourishes and artistic confidence grows.
