Open Medium stretches the working time of acrylic paint, so you can blend on the surface for longer. It suits outdoor painting and hot days.

Features

  • Size: 250ml.
  • Drying: mixed into acrylic colour to slow drying while keeping the paint's consistency.
  • Structure: with Matisse Structure, the impasto quality is kept.
  • Flow Acrylics: with Matisse Flow Acrylics, the smooth flow stays, with added body but no extra thinness.
  • Quantity: around 10 per cent lengthens working time and keeps blends smooth. Drying time peaks at an equal mix of paint and medium; more medium adds little drying time and can lower waterfastness.
  • Layering: mixes with more medium than paint give transparency and help layering.
  • Palette life: mixed paint can stay workable for several hours, with weather and the amount of medium both changing how long.
  • Handling: the gel-like body stays put on the palette, so it suits brush-mixing or pre-mixing.
  • Finish: leaves a satin sheen on the paint.

Paint feels smooth and buttery to work with, and areas can be reworked more easily than before.
