Handy Hints

For a protective surface coating use direct from bottle.

Do not dilute with water.

Allow at least 6 hours drying time between coats.

Do not use Matisse MM19 Poly-U-Gloss Varnish over oil-based paints or oil-based antiquing finishes.

Do not use on paper, canvas or other flexible substrates.

Water-resistant, heat-resistant, quick drying, and flexible.

Polyurethane Gloss Varnish is uniquely crafted for application in folk art techniques. This water-based finishing varnish delivers a clear, high-gloss, non-yellowing finish on hard surfaces. Its water-resistant and heat-resistant properties make it suitable for practical items such as place mats and coasters.

MM19 Polyurethane Gloss Varnish is a water-based finish designed specifically for folk art applications. It delivers a clear, high-gloss, non-yellowing coat that protects surfaces when applied straight from the bottle—do not dilute. Allow a minimum of six hours drying time between layers. This varnish is not suitable for use over oil-based paints, oil-based antiquing finishes, or on flexible materials like paper or canvas. It offers water and heat resistance, quick drying, and flexibility. Varnishing enhances artwork by providing a uniform sheen that intensifies pigment vibrancy while shielding against wear, dirt, and chemical exposure.
