A lyre easel whose mast leans up to 15 degrees forward, sending pastel dust past your drawing and onto the floor instead of settling on it. Painters in oil or acrylic use that rake to pull the studio light off wet paint.
Features
- Central mast inclines up to 15 degrees forward, and does not tilt back or lie flat
- Holds canvases up to 125cm high, with a 10kg maximum load
- Metal ratchet height adjustment, with sliding canvas supports
- Adjusts in height from 176cm to 245cm, on a base measuring 66cm by 76cm
- A tray for canvases and brushes measures 56cm
- Beech that is steam treated first, then oiled, with a stain resistant finish, made in Italy by Mabef
- Weighs 7kg and ships flat packed in around eight parts, bolt together
- Pastel, charcoal, oil, acrylic and display use, indoors
- Warranty runs 24 months internationally, and online registration with Mabef makes it lifetime
Staff tip
Lay an old sheet or a cheap drop cloth under the easel, reaching roughly a metre beyond the feet, before a pastel session. With the mast raked forward, the dust heads that way, and at the end you lift a single sheet rather than vacuuming pigment from studio carpet.
Inclinable is not convertible. The M25 folds flat for watercolour, the M12 Big is taller at 137cm, adds a steadying inner spring, and has no tilt, and the M13 Basic is the same lyre without the forward rake.
