Fold, bind and dye your way to crisp, repeating patterns. This Tulip One-Step Shibori kit gives you five cool dyes, plus twine and zip ties to bind the cloth, and refills for up to 30 projects, so you can try the Japanese technique at home.
In the box
- 5 One-Step dyes in 4 fl oz bottles: Indigo, Sky Blue, Black, Gray and Turquoise
- Refill packets for a second batch of five dyes
- Binding supplies: zip ties and twine
- Instructions
- Powder already in each bottle: add water, shake and dye
- Up to 30 projects, varying with garment size and dye amount
- Cotton and linen are the best fabrics for the dye
Staff tip
Fold the cloth like an accordion and secure the strip with clamps or ties at even intervals. Dye only the edges, and the opened cloth shows a neat grid.
Prewash the fabric and dye it while damp, wearing gloves in a ventilated space. Cotton tea towels and pillowcases make good first projects.
